AN ABORIGINAL TRIBE LIVING IN HARMONY WITH THE RAINFOREST
The Kuku Yalanji are the indigenous inhabitants of the land which stretches from around Cooktown in the north to near Chillagoe in the west and Port Douglas in the South.
This aboriginal tribe were true rainforest people who lived in harmony with the environment. Even to this day they are part of it and it is part of them. Their culture has always involved a deep respect for nature and an intimate knowledge of its cycles.
All things learnt about the rainforest has been passed down from generation to generation. Their culture, their traditions also passed on through the "dreamtime" stories.
